New Mental Health Facility :: LismoreThe redevelopment of the New Psychiatric Unit at Lismore Base Hospital in Lismore, NSW, forms part of the New South Wales Government program to improve mental health service provision within the State, improving access to a wide range of facilities for the community. The new Psychiatric Unit is the first stage of a three-stage masterplan upgrade to Lismore Base Hospital, which will develop the overall Hospital campus to enhance clinical, support and community facilities within the current Hospital site.
Lismore Base Hospital is the major acute care and referral hospital for the North Coast Area Health Service. The Hospital accommodates 210 inpatient beds and provides emergency care, critical care, general medical, surgical, paediatric, obstetric, mental health and clinical support services. The proposed redevelopment of the New Psychiatric Unit will replace the existing 25 bed Richmond Clinic and will see the establishment of the following facilities:
